About Mrs. O’Rear:

My name is Megayla O’Rear. I have taught math for 28 years, the last six of those at Paradise High School. I went to school in a small town in the Texas panhandle called Happy, so it has been like coming home to be back in a small town similar to the one in which I grew up. I have been married for 23 years to a wonderfully understanding and patient husband. We have no children, but we do have two dogs that we treat as our children.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State University (now known as West Texas A&M) located in Canyon, Texas, in 1976. I am currently working on a Masters of Science in Mathematics Teaching through Texas Woman’s University in Denton.

I keep pretty busy teaching Pre AP Algebra 2, Precalculus, Pre AP Precalculus, College Algebra, and AP Calculus. In addition, I am the high school Academic UIL Coordinator. Since I was in elementary school, Academic UIL has been a passion for me. It is a joy to be a part of the valuable experience for the growing number of students that our academic coaches and I take to compete at various invitational meets as they prepare for the UIL district, regional, and state meets.

For information about and dates of Academic UIL activities throughout the year, check this website or the school website.

My schedule is shown below. You can keep up with what we do in class each day as well as what’s going on with Academic UIL by clicking on the appropriate link in the schedule.
