Classroom Expectations: Students will be given a lab journal at the beginning of the year. They will make many entries in the journal about the lab activities and experiments that they will conduct. The journal will need to be kept up-to-date and be neat. When students are absent, they will need to make arrangements to up-date their journal. At the end of each 6-week period, the journal will be used to take their 6-weeks test. The students will store their journal in the classroom, but they may take them home to share with you at any time as long as they are returned promptly.

Extra Credit: Students are allowed to turn in two extra credit assignments each six weeks to take the place of their two lowest daily grades. They are due on the last Wednesday of the six-week period. The extra credit assignments can be found on the American Chemistry Society web page. Select any activity. After completing the activity have your child write a half page or more summary of what they did, what they observed, and what they learned. In addition to the summary, have your child either draw and label a picture showing what they did or take pictures of the activity. |
