May 14 Message to Boosters

Band Boosters,

As our PHS Band ends an award-winning school year full of accolades and achievements, the Band Boosters begin planning our strategies for supporting the Band during the 2012 - 2013 school year.

Please take this time to consider volunteering to become an Officer in the Band Booster organization. Your expertise and leadership are needed in the following offices:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • In addition, several support Committees are being formed to handled specific needs, such as Uniforms, Development/Fund-Raising, Hospitality, and Equipment. Chairpersons and committee members are needed in these specific areas.

Please choose to lead the support team behind our successful and growing Panther Band by volunteering to serve as an Officer or Chairperson.

    Thank you,

    April 23 Message to Boosters

    Good Morning, Band Boosters -

As another school year comes to a close, we are excited to be finishing up an extremely successful BAND year, and looking ahead to the next exciting season. Yes, a Band Booster's job is never done! We are so very proud of our sweepstakes-award-winning Panther Band, and proud that we have been able to support them in their efforts.

As our Band has grown and blossomed, the need for support by their Band Boosters has also increased. To that end, this letter is a request to all Band parents/supporters/boosters to recommit your participation in Band Boosters, and consider becoming an officer in next year's organization. Along with increased need for fund-raising and promotion for the Band, comes the need for increased leadership and fresh ideas for the organization. Your energy and input are needed to help Band Boosters become a stronger support system for a bigger, stronger Panther Band.

Please consider becoming an officer in next year's Paradise Band Boosters organization. You may email your nomination to me, and your name will be placed on the ballot for officer elections. The election will be conducted at our final meeting on May 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the Band Hall.

Thank you, again, for all your help and support.

Dear Band Parents / Supporters / Boosters -

Thanks to you, we did it again!

After much effort and support by everyone involved, our Donkey Basketball event last Friday night successfully benefitted our Band Student Scholarship Fund, and everyone who attended had a fun, enjoyable evening. The barbeque was delicious, the gift basket and 50/50 raffles were popular, and the donkeys and riders were entertaining, as always.

Whatever form of help you provided for this major fundraiser, thank you, thank you, thank you! We couldn't have done it without you.

We are still needing some help for the donkey basketball game. Please let me know when you can work!

    Donkey Basketball Update

Donkey Basketball is well on its way...only a few short weeks away! We sure could use your help on the following...

We need people to help work ticket sales and the concession stand. We will have shifts for people to work so you have an opportunity to enjoy the game as well. Please let me know what shift and where you would be willing to work!

    Ticket Sales

  • 5:00-6:00 (2-3 people)
  • 6:00-7:00 (2-3 people)
  • 7:00-8:00 (2-3 people)
  • 8:00-? (1 person)
  • Concession Stand

  • 5:00-6:30 (3 people)
  • 6:30-8:00 (3 people)
  • 8:00-9:30 (3 people)
  • We will have students sign up to work the snacks area in one hour shifts as well.

Instead of a silent auction, we will be having a raffle with numerous prizes to give away. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. You will have an opportunity to put a ticket in the container of the prizes you would like to win. As of today we have the following prizes donated:

  • Two tickets to Decatur Theater
  • Candle set from The Gift Box in Decatur
  • $20 gift card to South Beach Taco Shop
  • 4 haircuts to Jagged Edge Salon
  • Candle and Candleholder
  • 2 glass jars filled with homemade cookies
  • $10 gift card to Pazookies
  • Troy Aikman autographed football helmet
  • We are still in the process of collecting more donations for the raffle table. Some items we would to try and get are: oil changes, car washes, Scentsy stuff, nice pair of sunglasses, Starbucks, massage gift cards, "manly" items, and some larger items. If you have any contacts, please feel free to see what you can do to help out with raffle prizes!

We would also like to "add on" to some of the gifts already donated and make a nice basket. Maybe some movie items, popcorn, drinks, candy to go with the movie tickets; salsa, seasonings, and other Mexican items to go with the South Beach gift card; spa items, styling products, hair stuff to go with haircut gift cards...If you are able to help out with any of these, please let me know as well.

Once again, please let me know if you are willing to work a shift and/or help with donations!

    Thanks!

    Larry Owens

    November 4 Message to Boosters

    Dear Band Boosters -

Our 2011 Marching Band's final performance takes place during halftime at tonight's football game. I hope you can attend the performance and celebrate our Band's achievements during this year's marching season. "Coldplay" has been a wonderful show this year: great music, precision drills and marching, colorful flags and creative choreography. Please join in showing our appreciation for our talented Band students!

Also performing in the stands and on the field will be the rising stars of the 7th grade band, who will (hopefully) be part of the 2012 Marching Band. This is a fun evening and I hope you can be part of it.

Also, the Senior Recognition ceremony takes place before tonight's game. We have such talented and dedicated Senior Band students, and they will be missed next year. Let's be "loud and proud" of our Seniors during the ceremony! Thanks, again.

    October 19 Message to Boosters

    October 17, 2011 Meeting

The Paradise High School Band is in need of your help...there are many things that can be done for the band that would relieve the strain on Mrs. Altz. She has graciously worked over the years with the uniforms, keeping the uniforms ready for competition, and many other things. If you are available to do anything to help with the band please contact Melanie Silvas or Mr. or Mrs. Altz. All of your efforts will be greatly appreciated.

We are still in need of volunteers to help with the band booth at the home games. We are scheduling volunteers to work the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters. We will close the booth during half-time so that everyone can watch the band march. If you are available to help, please stop by the booth and see if they are in need of assistance.

We are going to competition this Saturday in Denton. The band members need to be in the band hall at 8:30 am to run through the performance. If you can provide breakfast items to help feed the band members that would be great! Also, be sure to wear your band t-shirts and show some school pride. Our students are doing a wonderful job and I know Mr. Altz is very proud of them.

Our next meeting will be November 14th in the band hall at 6:30 pm. I hope to see you there!

    Thank you -- Carol McCutchen

    October 13 Message to Boosters

    Hello, Band Boosters -

We have had requests to order more of our popular "generic" Panther Band t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts and hooded sweatshirts. As we move into autumn, those long-sleeves and hoodies are looking really inviting!

As always, we need a minimum of 12 shirts ordered. And, in order to have the shirts back in time for U.I.L. marching competition on Oct. 22nd, we need your order NOW!

The order form in PDF can be found here. Please fill in your order information and email it back to me OR print out the order and send it (with payment) to the Band Hall tomorrow, Oct. 13th. If you email your order to me, please send your payment to the Band Hall tomorrow, also.

Thanks again for your support and interest in these shirts. It is a fundraiser for the Band Boosters, but more importantly, it is a show of support for our Panther Band.

    October 5 Message to Boosters

    September 26 Message to Boosters

    Thank you, Band Boosters!

Due to your hard work, generosity and support, we had a very successful week of fund-raising. Homecoming mum sales, the Rifle Raffle, our Band Booster Spirit table at the football game, T-shirt/Hoodie orders, and, the Paradise Main St. Festival bake sale all contributed significantly to the Band's support/scholarship fund. (Final totals will be announced at our next meeting: Oct. 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the Band Hall.)

*Don't forget: Golden Triangle Marching Competition is Saturday, October 8th in Denton. Please plan to be "LOUD and PROUD" by attending this exciting event. Wear your Band shirt, bring your signs and banners, and let our Panther Band "know how much" we appreciate their talents and hard work. We will need logistical support prior to, and during, Golden Triangle and the U.I.L competition on Oct. 22nd, so stay tuned.

Thank you, again, for all your support. You are a great group of Band Boosters.

    September 9 Message to Boosters

Hello, Band Parents / Supporters / Boosters

I hope you are able to come to our Band's first home performance of the 2011 season this evening at the Paradise football game.

We (Band Boosters) will have a table set up at the front entrance where we will sell cotton candy, our new travel coffee mugs and raffle tickets for a rifle. Please stop by and support our efforts on behalf of our Band students.

In addition, be sure to buy a program this evening. The Band will be featured in the program with a great group photo.

    August 22 Message to Boosters

    Hello, Band Boosters -

Our next Meeting has been re-scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Band Hall. This change is a result of a schedule conflict with the Homecoming Parade.

    August 20 Message to Boosters

In case you haven't already discovered it, please be aware that we have now a new Band Booster web page! It is located within the "Band" section of the "High School Organizations" area of the Paradise ISD website (www.pisd.net). We hope to post all the information you need to know as a Panther Band Booster in that location. I encourage you to check the site regularly.

Additional notes from our recent meeting: Again this year, the Band Boosters will be operating a booth at the Paradise Main Street Festival on September 24th. We will be having a Bake Sale, therefore we will be needing workers for the booth and baked goods to sell. Please plan to help out as you can.

And, finally, as noted in the meeting summary posted on our website, we are in need of bottled water for the Band members. A total of 160 bottles of water are needed for every football game and event that they attend. If you have a source that will either donate water or extend us a price break, please let us know ASAP. This is an important aspect of our support for our Band members.

Thanks, again, for your help and support,

    Melenie Silvas

    August 9 Message to Boosters

    Hello, Band Parents and Supporters,

It is, once again, time to start thinking about the new school year, and all the upcoming activities of our Mighty Panther Band.

As you know, the Band students are already hard at work, and that means it is time for us, the Band Boosters, to start organizing and planning our support for these talented musicians.

To that end, I invite you to attend our first Band Booster meeting of the season Monday, August 15, 2011 at 6:45 p.m. in the Band Hall.

It will be a brief meeting to hear from Mr. Altz, our Band Director, introduce Band Booster officers, exchange/update contact information, and share other important information and dates pertinent to you and your Band student.

I hope you are able to attend this meeting, and I look forward to meeting and working with you during the coming school year.

    Thank you,

    Melenie Silvas

    President
