Horatio Alger Scholarship - Up to $25,000 - The Horatio Alger Association honors the achievements of outstanding individuals in our society who have succeeded in spite of adversity and who are committed to supporting young people in pursuit of increased opportunities through higher education. Student must have a $55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income. Deadline: October 25, 2018. Apply online

The Charles Butt Scholarship - Part of the Raising Texas Teachers Initiative. One hundred scholarships worth $8,000 per year for up to four years. For aspiring teachers. Information and application. Deadlines vary by institution.

Profiles in Courage Essay Contest - First-place prize $10,000. Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917, the year of JFK's birth. Contest information. Deadline January 18, 2019.

Texas Student Housing Scholarship 2019-2020 - More than $515,000 awarded. This scholarship is open to students accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station, or Denton TX who have NOT signed off-campus housing leases. Application and additional information. Deadline January 31, 2019.

Pinnacle Peak Recovery Scholarship - A $500 essay scholarship. Applicants write an essay explaining how they plan on fighting issues surrounding substance abuse and addiction. Examples may include: future career path, volunteering for a related cause, helping someone they love seek treatment, or even how they have overcome their own personal battles. Any student 18 or over is qualified to enter. Deadline: June 30, 2019. Application information.

Denver Recovery Center Scholarship - A $500 essay scholarship. Deadline, June 30, 2019. Apply online.

CardRates.com Financial Futures Scholarship - CardRates.com is proud to offer the Financial Futures Scholarship to future and current college students majoring in Business, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Management, and others preparing for a career in the personal finance industry. Applicants will be judged based on outstanding academic achievement and submission of an essay. The scholarship award amount is $1,000. Deadline is July 31 of each year. Application details.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program - Honoring the legacy of President Ronald Reagan, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Hazlewood Act (Texas Veterans Commission) - The Hazlewood Act provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition and fee exemptions at state supported colleges or universities.

"Just Poetry" scholarships - The Easterday Poetry Award of a $500.00 college scholarship will be awarded to the American High School Poets "Poet of the Year". In addition there will be 4 "Best of Issue" Winners ($500 scholarship prize, 1 selected each quarter) and 4 Editor's Choice Selections ($100 scholarship prize, 1 selected each quarter). McKnight Scholarship at Oklahoma State University – A full tuition waiver for all four years, plus $5000 for each of the first two years at OSU. FFA, 4-H, and American Quarter Horse Youth Assoc. Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program – Up to $10,000. Requires that student be enrolled in an ROTC program at college. Purpose: To encourage students to become members of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, Texas State Guard, U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Merchant Marine. Texas Department of Transportation Conditional Grant Program. The Conditional Grant Program is available to eligible students pursuing a degree in civil engineering or a department approved operational business discipline.

Texas Interscholastic League Foundation Scholarships – Applicants must be participants in the UIL Academic State Meet, or an Outstanding TSSEC Soloist. Application online. Deadlines vary and may be found on the website

Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest - $1,000 awarded every month. Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write an essay in response to a monthly prompt.

Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. Interested students can enter online.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund - www.hsf.net has links to several scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Once you begin filling out the online application, the site automatically tells you which scholarship programs you qualify for. A list of HSF scholarships is also available in the scholarship drawer in the Counselor's Office.
