Golf Season Concludes with District Meet
The boys and girls represented Paradise this week at the district golf tournament with grace and class. Shelby Bradshaw, Kaitlyn Bowling, Bailey Roberts, and Alyssa McCutchen comprised the girls team this week. The girls turned in a 555 score on Monday. On Wednesday, Bailey, Alyssa, and Kaitlyn returned for the second round of the district tournament. They were all competing in their first season of playing golf.
The boys team was comprised of Brandon McCutchen, Lucas Heathington, Skylar Black, Caiden Berry, and Cash Preather. They finished as the fifth place team with rounds of 426 and 410. Brandon McCutchen finished as the fifth place medalist with rounds of 93 and 87. He missed going to the regional tournament by one stroke. On the boys team, only Brandon has ever played golf competitively before this year.
This concludes the 2012 golf season. These young men and women played and practiced hard all season long.

Round One of the District Tourney is Complete
AZLE-The PHS boys and girls golf teams competed in round one of the District meet on Monday at Cross Timbers CC.
The girls team finished in third as a team after day one. The boys team shot 426 and are 22 shots out of first place. Individually, Brandon McCutchen is tied for 6th with a 93. Lucas Heathington is in 11th after shooting 103.
Golf Team Competes in Ponder Invitational
BOWIE-The boys and girls teams competed in the Ponder Invitational at Bowie on March 29. The girls (Olivia Bettesworth, Shelby Bradshaw, Kaitlyn Bowling, Brooke Huckabee, and Alyssa McCutchen) placed third with a score of 452. Alyssa, Kaitlyn, and Brooke all had season best scores.
The boys (Lucas Heathington, Brandon McCutchen, Skylar Black, Caiden Berry, and Wesley Meadows) placed fifth as a team. They shot a 381. Brandon, Caiden and Wesley each shot their lowest round of the year thus far.

Both teams will take next week off in preparation for the district golf tournament. The district rounds will take place at Cross Timber Golf Course in Azle (April 9) and Canyon West Golf Course in Weatherford (April 11). Since Monday, April 9th is a bad weather day, feel free to come out and support the teams in Azle.
Golfers Take on Indian Oaks
The golf teams competed in Nocona on March 23.

The girls (Olivia Bettesworth, Shelby Bradshaw, Bailey Roberts, Kaitlyn Bowling, and Brooke Huckabee) shot a 490 and placed third. They missed second place by 2 strokes.
The boys team (Lucas Heathington, Brandon McCutchen, Chance Dial, Drew Carter, and Cash Preather) shot 415 and placed fifth.
Golf Team Hits Canyon West
WEATHERFORD-On March 5, the golf teams traveled to Canyon West in Weatherford. The boys team, consisting of Lucas Heathington, Brandon McCutchen, Jacob Smith, Skylar Black, and Caiden Berry, shot a 376 and placed fifth. This was 28 strokes better than last week. Cash Preather and Wesley Meadows played as medalists and had their best rounds of the season.
The girls team shot 491 and placed fourth. Playing for the girls were Olivia Bettesworth, Shelby Bradshaw, Bailey Roberts, Brooke Huckabee, and Alyssa McCutchen. Please encourage these young ladies and gentlemen as they progress toward district play.

Golf Season Begins
On February 16, the boys and girls teams played in Azle at Cross Timbers Golf Course. Both the boys (Lucas Heathington, Brandon McCutchen, Wesley Meadows, Chance Dial, and Skylar Black) and girls (Olivia Bettesworth, Kaitlyn Bowling, Brooke Huckabee, Bailey Roberts, and Alyssa McCutchen) teams played well. Both teams placed third. The weather was miserably cold and most of the golfers were in their first ever tournament.
The golf team played in Azle again on Wednesday, February 29. Both teams competed well. The girls team (Olivia Bettesworth, Kaitlyn Bowling, Brooke Huckabee, Bailey Roberts, and Shelby Bradshaw) cut 70 strokes off of their score from the previous tournament. The boys (Lucas Heathington, Jacob Smith, Cash Preather, Caiden Berry, and Skylar Black) shot 31 strokes better than the last tournament. The boys placed third as a team and Lucas Heathington placed third as an individual. Again, some of these kids were in their first ever golf tournament today. Congratulate them if you see them and encourage them to keep working hard.
More importantly than their performance, all the young men and women who have played in the first two tournaments have competed with heart, courage, and honor. They are representing themselves and Paradise with class!
